A Family Affair

For over 100 years the Kirrage family have been synonymous with the licensed trade in Newark and the Trent Valley.

Fourth generation licensees, brothers Mike and David Kirrage – along with Kim and Lesley – established Light & Hoppy Festival Bars in 2007, providing a personally tailored service and specialising in cask conditioned ales, fine wines and quality products. Working alonside event organisers, they aim to provide the perfect bar to suit their requirements, whilst always retaining traditional values of customer service and care.

Both brothers had previously run their own freehouses where they won numerous awards and gained commendations from most major hospitality consumer guides.

Mike has also been heavily involved in music promotion since the 1970s, and is the founding director of the Gate to Southwell Festival.

Between them, the family have a vast experience in all aspects of the hospitality industry, which they’ve channeled into providing a bespoke service for small and medium sized events which caters to all tastes.

“We have had fabulous experiences working with Light and Hoppy Festival Bars. The team are incredibly friendly and easy to work with; their ability to organise and lead teams of volunteers is also a great strength. They have extensive experience, great cellar skills and are super at making events happen in the field; they are a genuine asset to our event.”
